i have to say...i love this photo. everything about it says "awesome"...the bike ...the jeans....the shirts....and i'm still a little confused as to why things don't look like this anymore? often times we'll look at an old car or motorcycle and think "dude that's so rad!"...and then wonder why the modern versions suck so bad. now i know design has to evolve but does it have to lose its cool factor? i'll tell you now that i would die climbing over a new harley to get the bike in this picture. the same thing goes for the jeans......oh wait....i forgot i'm wearing the willie! later.

so much to share with you, but all i can see this early morning minute is this sweet lale that used to be so bucking crazy and now is nothing but so lovely since she moved in to the gas station.

everyone that knew her prior to nashville knows that she was an absolute hellion, and least likely to ever be a shop dog.

and now, she sits in this chair and waits for her guests that she greets so sweetly.

good morning.

softly.... OPEN.

with no fanfare or advertising, imogene + willie opened on monday.

sunday night for us was like the night before the first day of school.

i laid in air mattress bed wondering what to wear. it was finally time to retire the 10th grade black gym shorts with paint all over them and the grey tank top that, my nieces kept saying for the past two months..."you had that on the last time we saw you."

matt, who falls asleep so sweetly, was laying wondering and waiting, too, what monday would bring.

so monday brought...

new friends, families, dogs and community into imogene + willie. full house all day and into the night. unbelievable, is the best way to explain what we are feeling.

we are still pinching ourselves that the dream is coming true just as we dreamt it.

that above sentence is so true, but there were so many bumps along the way.

we are still working towards being complete. but we are realizing the shop will never be complete...and so appreciative that those of you that have stepped inside understand that.

we are watching you look and buy and learning about what you want or need.

we are just....... open! we are finally shopkeepers, and loving it. imogene + willie is ready for you. come on.

we are thrilled to share with you this morning that imogene + willie has a home.

hurry up and hold on!

here's the place and the plan...

we are moving into the old service station of our dreams @ 2601 12th avenue south, nashville, tennessee.

we will start construction on monday.

we will move to nashville mid may.

we will open the doors to imogene + willie in.....

stay tuned. (think june!)

we will close orders for imogene + willie product sunday night, april 26th, in order to prepare inventory for the store.

get your order in quickly, if you need your imogene + willie fix before june.

we have found a sweet new friend in london who believes in our dream.

our story.

dear friends and family.
and...
nice to meet you and looking forward to knowing you... new friends that find us here and those that we meet along the way.

as we prepare to make a move just a little bit south of kentucky, we really would like to share with you our plans.

for a really long time, matt and i have dreamt about a special little business with a store front. and of course, the dream has some blue jeans in it. but that is not all.
we have worked for the past months defining what this means, where it works, what it provides, how it looks and feels and smells. and mostly... how to best create this concept for it to be right for this world in this time.

so, even though we can't share with you exactly our street number yet, we would like you to be the first to know about imogene + willie. (pronounced i mo gene and willie...)
we will be waiting for you around late spring in nashville, tennessee.

we don't sleep much at night, so very excited about opening the doors at imogene + willie.
once inside, you will find a constantly evolving shop atmosphere that inspires us and our customers.
we will provide product that it right for the time: clean, special, affordable, and mostly, but not all, vintage....all of these treasures found with love.
and then timeless denim. rare old pairs. with atleast one pair, you will always fall in love. we will pick it out with you. and then.... the in-house sewing masters will make it fit you as if it were made only for you.

we are so honored that our friends and long time colleagues, nestor and gloria, have joined the imogene + willie team.
nestor and gloria have worked with us for 2 decades! they are the secret ingredient of success to a very long list of premium brands that we have worked with over the years.

as nestor and gloria will make this journey with us, there adds another special element to the business.
we will offer pattern making and design services to brands all around the world, as well as to individuals seeking services for custom style.

our collection... imogene + willie. started from grass roots, and literally sewn in the back of the store.
